During Tuesday’s Apple Special event, Apple announced the release dates, deals, pricing, and contents, of both its Apple Arcade and Apple TV Plus subscriptions. Best of all, the price of both subscriptions allows for up-to-six family members in the plan. Here’s everything you need to know about these new services.
Earlier this year, Apple announced both Apple Arcade, and Apple TV Plus alongside Apple TV Channels, Apple Card, and more from the spring’s media event. Since then, Apple has been silent on pricing, availability, and contents of both services, at least until Tuesday’s Apple special event.
Apple Arcade will launch on September 19th alongside iOS 13 Public release, and cost $4.99/per month for the family plan. As of September 19th, it will only be available for iPod touch, and iPhone. It’ll be joined by Apple TV and iPad on September 30th, and macOS Catalina in October.
“With a subscription to Apple Arcade for $4.99 per month, users get unlimited access to the entire catalog of over 100 new, exclusive games, all playable across iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Apple TV,” says the press release.
Studios like Gameloft, Sega, Bandai-Namco, Capcom, Square Enix, and Ubisoft, are all developing content for Apple Arcade, exclusively.
You’ll also be able to pair your PS4 Dualshock or Xbox One controller to your Apple TV for top-tier gameplay.
Apple’s new streaming service, Apple TV Plus, will be available starting November 1st. The family plan is $4.99/per month, undercutting Netflix and Hulu’s ad-supported offerings.
Several Apple-exclusives will launch as well. Including: See, For All Mankind, and The Morning Show, among more. Apple says they’ll add new offerings each month.
Apple announced that customers who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, will receive a year-long subscription for free. If you don’t plan on purchasing new hardware, Apple is offering a 7-day free trial.
