Adding to a slew of new reports from Bloomberg, Apple is expected to launch a cheaper HomePod, and more expensive noise-canceling AirPods, sometime in 2020. Here’s everything you need to know.
In a new report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu, Apple is hard at work to bring a slew of new products to market as early as next month. In the report, Gurman and Wu highlighted the iPhone 11, new iPad models, and even AirPods and HomePod.
While we expect Apple to release iPhone 11 next month, and possibly update their iPad lineup in October, Gurman and Wu say that Apple is expected to launch a cheaper HomePod, alongside the noise-canceling AirPods, sometime in 2020.
Bloomberg says the new HomePod will undercut the current $299 model when it’s released. To achieve a lower price, Gurman and Wu say the new model will only feature two tweeters, down from seven in the current model. When asked about the release date, Bloomberg says “sometime next year.”
Regarding AirPods 3, Bloomberg says the highly-anticipated, noise-canceling AirPods won’t release in 2019 like it has been reported. Instead, Apple will release the new models in 2020, likely at a premium over the $159 AirPods 2 without wireless charging.
“Apple is working on new AirPods that are likely to be more expensive than the current $159 model. New features will include water resistance and noise cancellation with a launch planned by next year. Apple introduced a new version of the entry-level AirPods in March with hands-free Siri support and longer battery life,” says Bloomberg.
