Today, Apple issued a safety recall for the three-prong AC power prongs. These AC power prongs are made for use in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Hong Kong. This recall only affects plugs for iOS devices shipped in 2003-2010, and in all Apple World Travel Adapter Kits.
The issue pertaining to this product is that it’ll give you an electric shock if you touch the exposed, bare metal parts. Apple prioritizes customer safety to a compulsory value in their products, and they’ll be exchanging affected three-prong wall plug adapters with a new one, without any charge.
Affected Apple three-prong wall plug adapters have no printings on the slot, white color all around it and no gray linings. You can compare your adapter with the pictures provided in Apple’s recall page, linked down below.
To conclude, the Apple 5W USB power adapters provided in iPhones in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Hong Kong are not involved in this recall, so don’t get your iPhone adapter confused in the pictures. You’ll also be required to provide the serial number of your iOS device or Mac for eligibility to receive a replacement. More information about this recall is in this link here.
