Apple has officially shared images of its new Kyoto store, which is set to open this Saturday on Shijō Dori, Kyoto, Japan.

Apple Kyoto will mark the Cupertino companies ninth store in Japan, with the first ever store in Kyoto. The new store, located on Shijō Dori street, is the cities “cultural and technological hub” and the street “surrounded by many of Kyoto’s famous shrines and temples, has served as the city’s main shopping corridor since the 1600s,” as stated by Apple in a press release.

Apple says the unique design of Apple Kyoto is inspired by local tradition, architecture, and to be in harmony with its environment. According to the press release related to the design, “Apple Kyoto’s architecture takes inspiration from local design and materials, with the upper levels clad in a translucent envelope inspired by Japanese lanterns. The use of lightweight timber frame and special paper on the upper facade also draw reference to the country’s traditional houses.
