Apple Rumored To Introduce iPhone With Triple-Lens Rear Camera Next Year

Yuanta Securities analyst Jeff Pu released investor reports today, predicting that Apple may release a new iPhone with triple-lens rear camera next year. according to Taipei Times, who does not provide any additional details.

Pu said Huawei Technologies Co (華為) is expected to drive triple-camera lens adoption by introducing a lower-spec device for the Mate 20 model, while Apple is likely to launch a new iPhone model with a triple-lens rear camera in the second half of next year.

If the iPhone’s rear camera system will have the third lens, a 3x optical zoom can be possibly achieved, which means that the image in the viewfinder should be able to magnified by up to 3x without a blurry reduction in quality like digital zoom.

Of course, the triple-lens design will only be available for high-end iPhones and may appear on third-generation of iPhone X or iPhone X Plus. Currently, the Huawei P20 is the world’s first smartphone equipped with triple lenses, including a 40 megapixel lens, a 20MP monochrome lens, and an 8 million telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom.
