Bloomberg has reported that the notch on the Newer 2018 iPhone X’s will be smaller than the last year’s iPhone X line up.
In this case Apple is actually trying to remove the notch from their own design line ups, but they couldn’t because all the important sensors like the true depth sensor, ambient light sensor, front camera, earpiece and depth sync technology all hides in that one tiny notch and Apple now claims that the notch will get even smaller. Thats great!
Also the true depth sensor is shrinking in size this year. The sensor that hides the secret to unlocking your phone, now is shrinking in size to compensate with the size of the notch on the newer iPhone’s.
The true depth sensor had a three way interlacing technology which uses the dot projector, an infrared sensor and the front facing camera to create a true depth image of yourself to unlock your iPhone using Face ID. The true depth sensor is now going to be a two way processing system where now the infrared sensor and the dot projector will be combined into one. The true depth sensor will now use the combined infrared sensor and dot projector and the front facing camera to process the photo data.
The earpiece will also get slimmer than usual to give space to smaller notch on the later iPhones.
Hope this brings a good and welcoming change to the new iPhones.
